Roland E. Seamon

May 22, 1925 - January 22, 2005
Roland honorably and heoically served his country in the U.S. Army during Warld War II. During the German offensive of "The Battle of the Bulge" he and another volunteer soldier used a bazooka, a weapon neither had ever before fired, to destroy two German Panzer tanks, thus stopping a column intent on overrunning their position. For their heroic actions, both soldiers were awarded the second highest award in the military, "The Distinguised Service Cross". Roland was honorably dischared from the Army in 1946.

Obituary
Roland E. Seamon 79, of Ft Myers, Florida passed away at his home on Saturday, Janurry 22nd following a brief illiness.
Born in Shinnston on May 22, 1925, Mr. Seamon was the fourth son and sixth child of Luigi Seamon and Amelia Felosa Seamon.
He was married to the former Florine Lopez who preceded him in death on December 27, 2001. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Mrs. John (Janie) Marra of Shinnston, and Mrs William "Bill" (Mary) Marra of Garder City, Michigan, and one brother, Frank Seamon of Bridgeport.
Surviving are one daughter,three sisters, three grand children, and 3 great grand children.
Roland was retired from General Motors Corp. and later moved to his retirement home in Ft Myers, Florida.
He was a Catholic by faith. Following cremation, a military service will be held in Ft. Myers, Florida.
