| ENCHANT - (by
wizards only)
A LOT of mana must be infused into the area -- see INFUSED -- Wizards should enchant only at workshops or other areas with intense mana pools. Note that there is a formula - which could change at anytime - for roughly calculating what amount of increasingly difficult enchants a particular wizard can do successfully with an item such as armor. There is also a formula for determining how much mana is needed for enchanting from a 1x to a 2x, etc.
A wizard cannot enchant the item until he or she has prepared it with
a grot t'kel potion or similar potion, see POUR POTION
|
A
successful enchant; the wizard may see other messages
which show a range of failures, from "try enchanting it again" messages to
total destruction of the item and harm to the wizard:
What happens when a wizard attempts to enchant BEFORE the waiting period is up; i.e., the rohnuru potion tells you wait three hours, and you attempt to enchant in only one hour:
When the item has properly been prepared with potion and a waiting period, but there is not enough mana in the local mana pool. More mana must be INFUSED:
When you have not poured an appropriate potion onto the item:

| POUR POTION ON
MY - [ARMOR, WEAPON, SHIELD] (for enchanting by wizards)
(NOTE: Wizards have a choice of using one of five possible potions for tempering the item for the purpose of future enchantment. The potions, ranging in order from the least expensive -- with no bonus for success -- to the most expensive with the most bonus for success: rohnuru, duqnuru, dirtokh, mirtokh & sisfu.)

>pour potion
on my leather
You pour your potion on the leather. (d100: 10) The liquid oozes over the surface of your double leather, creating a faint aura of steam. With a soft cloth, you work the potion in well until you hear a faint crackling noise coming from it, and it appears faded. Your double leather should be ready for more work in about 15 hours. Round time: 60 sec. You only have one dose left. (Note that the time for completion of tempering varies randomly within the respective ranges for each potion. With rohnuru, the wait can be as little as 1 hour, and with mirtokh, the wait can be as long as 30 days.)

Victorae pours
his potion on the leather.
The liquid oozes over the surface of Victorae's double leather, creating a faint aura of steam. With a soft cloth, he works the potion in well until you hear a faint crackling noise coming from it, and it appears faded.

| CHARGE (by wizards
only)
(Before proceeding, a wizard must have a talented bard sing to a valuable gem such as a diamond or ruby to make sure the gem is "pure." Once the gem is considered ready, the wizard then pours a grot t'kel potion on the gem to further prepare it for becoming an blue orb, which in turn will increase the charges in the targeted item. See POUR POTION ON MY <GEM>. The wizard will need a LOT of mana, especially if he or she is charging ruby amulets, which have wall of force charges in them.) Note that a wizard may suffer from failures when rubbing the orb or casting at it. With rubbing, failures can range from destroying the targeted item and getting hurt, losing all mana, or simply being forced to "try again." With casting at the orb, failures range from having the orb shrink or even imploding the orb into oblivion! You can recharge wands and other items in Melghoren's Reach as well. |

| SENSE
(When you are a properly skilled wizard AND you are in a mana pool area, you will sense one of the following subjective terms for judging the amount of mana in the pool: no/ weak/ mediocre/ mildly strong/ strong/ incredible. According to Khait, a properly skilled wizard is a mage who has a +140 in mana share (40 ranks) and knows up to spell 930 on the wizard list.)
