THE REY-REY EFFECT!

October 12, 2001: It's A Kind Of Magic

Ani-Magic 2001 will forever be in my mind. I just really looked forward to having a good time. As for my first job for World Of Anime, I was nervous. I didn't know if I had it in me. But I still looked at it as a fun experience. I mean, I'm just going to be talking to my friends, right? And I'm just going to be talking to some new faces? How hard can that be?

Agent said to "be myself". I kept that in mind the whole time. I wasn't going to let anybody stop me from being limited to a Disney-type of person. I don't curse, anyway, so I guess it would be much easier to stay in bounds.

With a walkie-talkie, I didn't have to go all the way back into the room to report to HeadQuarters or anything. That made it much easier for me, too.

I swear to God; I don't think I've ever gotten this much attention in my whole life. Especially in the Masquerade. When iPlay finished their skit, I thought I was going to faint because of the surprise. "Rey-Rey, we'll get you for this!" When I watched the tape over back at the hotel room, I heard a couple of girls yell out, "Two dollah make ya hollah!" (one of my signature phrases) I was like, "Wow. People know that?!" A couple have even said that, "Wow. Rey-Rey! You're a celebrity, man!" Heh. I'm just a 22-year-old dork who does stupid dances, noises, and random words. O_o I'm not even doing anything anime-related (well, I guess HOT YAOI ACTION counts for a bit)! I'm not doing any kind of artwork, fansub, or voice-acting. O_o Still, I can't deny that the attention is nice but I still can't believe it's happening.

As for my interviews, I don't mean to act all nonchalant about it or anything; sure, they're celebrities in their own right. But they're still people. They're still people in high-profile jobs. I had that in mind so I just messed around with the guests. ^__^ I guess that made for a more entertaining interview because, even if they are celebrities, I'm not going to let someone else overwhelm me because of their status. I'd probably act the same way with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Okay, I'm lying. I'll probably drool all over her.

This is what makes World of Anime fun. Agent said I could be myself. I want to show other people's sides that they never thought they would see. I want to entertain people. And, with this show, I'll be able to do more of that. Hopefully, I can do more on that with future shows. Next in line for a convention? Fanimé Con. Maybe I can interview their security people...

To those that will see the Ani-Magic episode, hope you enjoy the Rey-Rey Effect.
